Private Equity in Health Care: Investment trends and harmful effects

An open event co-organized by the MSc "Public Health - Health Policy" of the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Centre for Research and Education in Public Health, Health Policy and Health Care (KEPY) on "Private Equity in Healthcare: investment trends and harmful effects".

The event addresses the increasing role of private equity firms in the provision of medical services at international level and the negative impact of this activity on the quality of services provided. The event is of particular interest given the expressed intention of such companies to become involved (beyond hospital care) in the medical education sector in our country.

David Himmelstein and Steffie Woolhandler, professors at Harvard Medical School and founding members of PNHP (Physicians for a National Health Programme) will speak at the event.

The event will take place on Monday 16 December 2024 6-8pm in the Graduate Studies Room, on the ground floor of the Secretariat Building of the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The event will also be webcast via the following link zoom: https://authgr.zoom.us/j/92471972520
